Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell is an American TV personality who is a chef, and a an instructor from the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as the host of Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and bubbly personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals simple, easy-to-learn techniques to cook at home in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell also has worked in some of New York's top restaurants, has studied Italian food, its culture and traditions and has was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Early on, while growing up in New York's upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was where she studied to earn an English degree as well as a communications diploma from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The student says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every moment." Culinary Institute of America was a great place to study. After graduating Chef Burrell lived in Italy for one year studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Additionally, she worked at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin starred restaurant) located in Tuscany. When she was in Italy the chef developed an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian cuisine. It had a significant influence on her perception of food. Burrell is an ambassador for the celebrity chef for the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She also was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board, which helps kids who have challenges. As an inspirational speaker, she makes trips across the country to talk about her love of cuisine and to promote her professional career as a chef. Anne has said throughout her professional career she's grateful to be able share with others what is truly important for her.
